Dr. Dirk Mahling, Chief Technology Officer
Dirk Mahling, a recognized thought-leader in energy management, joined WebGen in 2000 as chief technology and chief information officer. WebGen's IUE® System, which Mahling co-created, demonstrates the value advanced information technology can bring to energy management, controls, and facilities. Prior to joining WebGen, Mahling served as chief knowledge officer and vice president of e-solutions for Primix Solutions, which has been acquired by Burntsand, a North American business consulting and technology services company. He has also served as a knowledge management consultant for Ernst & Young, LLP, and as a chief architect for A.T. Kearney. Mahling currently has a faculty appointment at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Information Sciences. He has also worked with the University of Massachusetts and Federal German Institute for Research on Artificial Intelligence. For more than 15 years, Mahling has contributed to the fields of artificial intelligence, knowledge management, Internet architecture, and graphical user interface. He has published extensively on these topics in the trade press and in academic journals, and is a frequent speaker on energy management and information technology. Mahling earned a bachelor's of science degree in computer science and a master's degree in cognitive engineering and psychology from Carolo-Wilhemina University in Brunswick, Germany. He received a master's degree in computer and information science and a doctorate degree in computer and information science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Mahling is a member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Association for Information Processing (AIP), the German Informatics Society (GI), the European Association for Cognitive Engineering (EACE), and the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), where he previously served as chairman of the special interest group on groupware and knowledge management. |
