WebGen Systems Rounds Out Seasoned Management Team

Adds Key Executives to Quickly Meet Demand for its Intelligent Use of Energy System

Cambridge, Mass. (September 26, 2002) — WebGen Systems, Inc., provider of the first predictive, proactive energy management system - Intelligent Use of Energy (IUE)_, today announced the addition of four veteran executives to its management team. Joining the company are Dana Appling, Chief Counsel; Richard F. Gallagher, Jr., CPA and Chief Financial Officer; and Robert Steele, Vice President of Sales.

Ms. Appling brings 20 years of expertise in legislative, corporate and utilities law to WebGen Systems. With a proficiency in environmental law, as well as corporate strategy and policy development, she joined WebGen after a 13-year tenure at the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, serving as its General Counsel and as Secretary to its Board of Directors. Ms. Appling is a graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law and Pomona College and was named YWCA's Woman of the Year in 1995 and 1997. She will serve as Chief Counsel for WebGen.

Mr. Gallagher joined WebGen as Chief Financial Officer in July after serving as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Business Infrastructure for the consulting division of The IT Group, now part of The Shaw Group based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He brings more than 15 years of experience in the financial and accounting field to WebGen Systems.  Mr. Gallagher is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.

Mr. Steele joined WebGen with nearly 15 years of experience in the facilities management and utilities industries. Most recently, he was the Regional Sales Director at Johnson Controls, Inc., a global market leader in facility management and control. He has also worked at companies such as PSEG Energy Technologies and Keyspan Energy. Mr. Steele earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University and an MBA from Boston College. He has also completed extensive training in the fields of leadership and sales management.

The WebGen Intelligent Use of Energy System (IUE)_ monitors and controls energy consumption, in real-time, over the Internet. IUE provides building owners and managers a predictive, automated energy management solution that reduces energy costs and improves energy efficiency with minimal impact on tenant comfort. The system conserves scarce energy resources, reduces energy expenditures and provides a detailed accounting of reduced energy use and corresponding dollar savings. Using sophisticated, proprietary Intelligent Agent technology, IUE proactively regulates and controls energy usage, continuously, while maintaining service levels and building efficiency. It is cost-effective in a wide range of individual properties, as well as diverse portfolios and large campus settings

Depending on building type and location, WebGen customers can expect to save 12 percent or more on overall energy expenditures – a dollar value that can range from $0.24 to $0.30 per gross square foot.
