IUE D-Gen® : Intelligent Distributed Generation
Solution: IUE D-Gen in concert with DR, Optimization, and Peak Avoidance
 WebGen has developed a suite of products that operate under the concept of Intelligent Use of Energy (IUE®). IUE® D-Gen works in cooperation with the Demand Response module IUE DR (separate product) and the intelligent agents (separate product) for load reduction and peak avoidance, IUE Agent Control. Together, these three modules monitor the price of energy, the weather forecast, and the conditions in the building. Based on current conditions and forecast, the agents can determine the best possible course of action.
If energy prices are rising and the customer has a DR contract with the ISO, IUE DR and IUE D-Gen compute if it is more economic to curtail energy or to start the D-Gen equipment or to do both. Then these agents compute where most profits can be made: by using the generated energy in the building or by connecting to the grid and selling it. Since these decision are complex, require multiple information feeds, and are based on simulations and forecast, IUE D-Gen can act quicker and more profitable than a human operator.
